Virtual production is a filmmaking approach that syncs the virtual world and the live action world in real time so everything can be captured in camera while you shoot.  It has roots in back projection and green screen, and combines elements of these techniques with functionality derived from video games and virtual reality.

 

 

The accessibility of real-time 3D creation tools such as Unreal Engine and Unity, combined with the proliferation of LED stages over the past couple years, makes virtual production a highly efficient and creatively expansive approach to linear filmmaking.
